1. What are the Hospital hours?

Our hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. On Saturdays we are open from 8:00am until noon. The clinic is closed on Sunday.

2. Do I need to have an appointment?

Yes, patients are seen by appointment.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Check, Mastercard, Visa and Care Credit

4. Can I make payments?

Unfortunately, we are not able to arrange payment plans.  Payment is required at the time of service.  However, because we know that pet care expenses can arrive at the most inconvenient times, we do except Care Credit.  They have many payment plans available including some with low or no interest.  You can learn more and apply at www.carecredit.com.

5.  How many veterinarians do you have?

We currently have four veterinarians that work in our hospital.  Dr. Kieren works on Wednesdays and a Saturday rotation.  Dr. Weller works on Tuesdays, Fridays, and a Saturday rotation.  Dr. Lobbezoo works on Mondays, Thursdays, and a Saturday Rotation.  These are normal scheduled hours.  However, which veterinarian is in clinic can vary depending on the schedule, illness, and vacations.

6.  I work during the day and need a convenient appointment time.  What do you offer?

We are open Monday through Friday until 5:00pm.  Appointments are also available on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm.  If these hours are not convenient for you, we are also able to offer some services on Monday evening by appointment.  If you do need an evening appointment, please ask our front office staff about the extended Monday hours.

7.  My son or daughter wants to be a veterinarian.  Do you take volunteers?

Yes, we do.  For more information, please see our Internship-Volunteer page.

8.  Do you see horses, cows, or other farm animals?

No, we no longer offer large animal services.  We recommend you consult the phone book for your nearest large animal veterinarian.

9.  Do you see ferrets, rabbits, rodents, birds, or reptiles?

Yes, some of our veterinarians are trained in exotic animal care.  For availability of appointments, please call our front office at (231) 652-1681.

10.  At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered?

We recommend spaying or neutering pets at 4 1/2 to 5 months of age.  For the pet's safety, we require DHLPP and Rabies vaccines to be current prior to surgery.

11.  Is it a good idea to let my pet have at least one litter?

No, there is no advantage to letting your pet have one litter. However there are plenty of advantages to having your pet spayed or neutered. These advantages include decreasing the chances of breast tumors later in life, decreasing the chance of cystic ovaries and uterine infections later in life, decreasing the desire to roam the neighborhood, decreasing the incidence of prostate cancer later in life, helping prevent spraying and marking, and also decreasing the surplus of unwanted puppies and kittens.

12.  Do you board or groom pets?

No, we don't offer boarding or grooming here at the hospital.  We recommend taking your pets to Betty Davidson at K-9 Kennels.  She is wonderful!
